Giraffenhals by Manuel Viergutz is a free distorted display font with extremely tall, wiry letters and an unmistakably hand-drawn edge. Stroke widths shift abruptly, and the narrow shapes bend, pinch, and flare in ways that make the alphabet look restless. Its uneven joins are especially distinctive.
Poster lettering is its strongest role, particularly for experimental theater, offbeat music events, or art-school programming with an intentionally raw voice. On album packaging and merchandise, the stretched forms can become part of the artwork, resembling nervous ink lines or lanky figures. Independent magazines and youth-oriented cultural branding also suit its loose, unconventional drawing well.
