Author's note

GL-Nummernschild-Mtl by Karlgeorg Hoefer of Gutenberg Labo is a free decorative display font with tall, tightly drawn letters and the utilitarian flavor of stamped identification plates. Rounded corners and changing stroke widths soften the otherwise upright, mechanical construction.

Vehicle-themed posters are its most convincing setting, especially when the lettering needs to suggest registration marks or workshop signage. The same narrow silhouettes suit automotive branding, event graphics, and merchandise, where long names can take on the compact look of an official label. Its plate-like forms can also become part of the subject itself, turning a title into a convincing piece of road or garage imagery.
