Author's note

Grutch Shaded by Steeve Gruson is a free distressed shaded display font with a scruffy Victorian poster feel. The letters mix chunky serif shapes with rough edges and patchy shadowing, so the whole font feels battered, inky, and a little theatrical rather than neat or formal.

It fits posters, pub menus, book covers, title cards, packaging, and short editorial headlines where that worn print mood helps carry the concept. Used as a free font for logos, mastheads, or big pull quotes, it works best when you want the shading to do some of the talking and give a few words an old press, hand-inked presence.
