Author's note

Hanalei Fill by Brian J. Bonislawsky of Astigmatic is a free cartoon display font with broad, irregular letterforms. Its uneven edges and pinched curves resemble shapes cut quickly from paper or painted for a handmade sign. Narrow white openings break through the dark strokes and keep the forms lively.

Children's event posters are a particularly good fit, since the lettering feels rambunctious and handmade. It can also bring playful island-shop character to food packaging, souvenir merchandise, and casual signage. In publishing, its rough silhouettes can turn a cover line into part of the illustration rather than neutral type.
