Author's note

Honcho, designed by Joan M. Mas, is a free handwritten script with brisk, connected strokes and pronounced changes in line weight. Tall looping forms rise above a low, flowing body, and the slightly uneven joins give the lettering the speed and assurance of a quick signature.

It can lend fashion branding a personal edge, yet its fluid silhouette also suits music posters and event invitations. The long loops and sweeping strokes can echo ribbons, thread, or drawn flourishes in packaging and editorial artwork, making the lettering part of the illustration rather than a neutral caption.
