Author's note

Hooge 05_57, Craig Kroeger's free pixel bitmap font, channels early screen graphics with chunky, squared letters and a deliberately blocky rhythm. The forms feel snapped to a coarse grid, with deep rectangular openings and abrupt corners that give the font a compact, game-era tone without drifting into novelty.

It makes sense anywhere you want that stripped-down digital mood to do real visual work: retro game branding, zines, software-themed posters, web banners, title cards, or short interface labels. As a free font, it is especially useful for brief headlines and cover lines where those hard pixel edges keep the lettering crisp, direct, and unmistakably rooted in 2002-era bitmap culture.
