Author's note

Hummus, Chips, Salat by David Kerkhoff is a free Hebrew-inspired display font with compact, uneven lettering and a lively hand-cut finish. Its blunt strokes and offbeat angles keep the forms informal.

Packaging is an especially good setting for this sturdy, food-friendly lettering, particularly on hummus tubs, snack labels, and casual restaurant menus whose graphics draw on an unmistakable Hebrew-script reference. The same irregular shapes can give festival posters, market signage, and neighborhood food branding the direct charm of painted shopfront lettering, turning the words into part of the illustration rather than neutral type alongside simple drawings of fresh ingredients.
