Author's note

Idols by Manfred Klein of Goetzen is a free pictorial dingbat font built from stylized masks, human figures, and animals. The drawings use rough black shapes, scratchy linear details, and deliberately uneven contours, with a hand-cut quality that recalls folk prints and carved symbols.

Its folk-art character is especially suited to museum programs and cultural event posters, where a single symbol can establish an immediate theme. The masks and animated figures can also become emblems for craft packaging or theatrical merchandise rather than serving as ordinary text. In editorial design, the collection offers distinctive spot illustrations for articles about mythology, ritual objects, traditional crafts, or outsider art.
