Author's note

Imperator Bronze font by Pjl is a free retro serif typeface that looks like it’s been lifted from an old engraved plaque. Tall, tapering stems flare like metal columns, while the inky inner curves and subtle rough edges give each letter a worn, bronze-like sheen. The rhythm feels ceremonial and slightly mystical, making even a single word read like a title or incantation.

Using Imperator Bronze, you can give instant gravitas to fantasy book covers, period film posters, band logos, game titles, wine or spirits labels, and theatrical programs. This free font works best set large, where its sculpted strokes and carved details can really breathe; pair it with a clean, unobtrusive sans serif for captions and supporting text to keep the ornate character firmly in the spotlight.
