JLSSpaceGothic-CNC Font

JLS Space Gothic-CNC by James Stirling and the Fontry is a free futuristic display font with tall rounded letters and a forceful industrial silhouette. Broad strokes keep a nearly even weight, and the clipped joins, squared inner spaces, angled cuts, and abrupt corners give the rounded structure a distinctly machine-tooled edge.

Science-fiction game branding and electronic music packaging can both use its compact, engineered forms, and event posters gain a convincing control-panel reference from the unusual joins and cutaway details. The forms belong firmly to classic retro-futurist and space-age visual themes.

JLS Space was the first computer-format font created by the author. It consisted of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and basic punctuation. The project was later abandoned, and the font file was lost for fifteen years.

Mike Adkins recovered the font file from a failing hard drive and sent it to the author. The project was then resumed, and Data Gothic was completed almost twenty years after it began.
