Author's note

Junicode Bold Italic, Peter S. Baker's free medieval-style italic serif, leans into a scholarly Renaissance voice with flowing curves and a pronounced calligraphic slant. The letters feel bookish rather than stiff: wedge-like serifs, soft swelling strokes, and a lively dot over the i give it the air of an early printed page.

That makes this free font a natural choice for historical publishing, museum graphics, literary covers, academic branding, and editorial pull quotes where a learned tone matters more than neutrality. Use it for title pages, chapter openings, short headings, or monograms when you want the italic movement to carry the composition on its own.
