Author's note

Kaligraf Cyr by Lazar Dimitrijevic is a free Cyrillic display font with a forceful, manuscript-like silhouette. Its tapered strokes, torn-looking edges, and long pointed flourishes make letters seem cut with a quick, sharp tool.

In publishing, it gives book covers and chapter openers the atmosphere of an old dramatic text. The same jagged elegance suits theater posters, folk-music packaging, and historical exhibition graphics. Across these uses, the recurring spikes and sweeping tails turn Cyrillic lettering into part of the period imagery.

The characters are based on personal handwriting taken from pages of calligraphy. The font includes several ornaments.

In response to requests from users of “Kaligraf Latin,” I created the Cyrillic version, “Kaligraf Cyr.”

Anyone who wishes to use the font for commercial purposes may make a donation by purchasing one of my calligraphic or other fonts on MyFonts.
