Author's note

Kanis by Benoît Sjöholm is a free old-style display serif with broad, softly modeled letters and sharp calligraphic endings. Its uneven curves and tapered strokes recall hand-cut print rather than a rigid revival face. The lowercase forms are generous, with lively joins and distinctive hooked feet.

Its old-world print character suits literary publishing and historical event posters. It can shape labels for craft food and drink, where the irregular drawing suggests an artisan mark rather than typesetting. Alongside engraved illustrations or botanical motifs, the sweeping serifs echo hand-worked lines.
