Author's note

Kemuri font by Toxic Type is a free Asian dingbat typeface that turns each character into a bold, inky emblem. The shapes swell and taper like carved wood or thick brushstrokes, with curling horns, flared feet, and smoky interior cuts that feel almost ritualistic. Set large, these symbols read as striking icons rather than letters, giving titles and logos a mysterious, story-rich presence.

Using Kemuri, you can brand martial arts events, fantasy games, fusion restaurant menus, tattoo flash sheets, zines, or themed party posters with an instant mythic atmosphere. This free font works best in short words or monograms, backed up by a plain sans-serif for body copy so the ornate forms can breathe and carry the visual weight.
