Author's note

Koch Altschrift Initialen, designed by Prof. Rudolf Koch for Gebr. Klingspor, is a free floral initials font built around slender Roman capitals. Fine vines, leaves, buds, and open flowers weave through each letter, sometimes crossing the strokes or filling the inner spaces. The drawing has an airy, hand-inked quality rather than the density of traditional decorated initials.

Botanical illustration is part of the lettering, making it apt for book covers, garden event invitations, and artisan packaging. It can also shape an emblem. The curling stems can extend a floral border or echo plant drawings elsewhere in an editorial spread.
