Author's note
La Girouette, designed by ADT in 1998 and cut by Olivier Umecker, is a free directional dingbat font. Its arrow forms have blunt points, irregular shafts, and sharply cut silhouettes. Each symbol feels hand-cut and immediate.
Wayfinding signs are the clearest use, especially for informal venues or themed events. The same rough geometry suits maps, game graphics, and merchandise with an adventurous or handmade angle. These arrows can also join illustrated routes and diagrams as active pictorial marks rather than neutral symbols.
