Lettres Ombrees Ornees by Dieter Steffmann from an 1820 design by Schriftgiesserei J. Gille, is a free ornamental shadowed display font shaped by engraved foliage and deep block shading. The repeated scrollwork turns each letter into a small decorated panel, giving the alphabet a carved, printed-from-metal presence rather than a generic decorative surface.
That dense ornament makes sense on posters, book covers, wine or apothecary labels, menu headings, and period-themed packaging where a plain display font would feel too bare. Short titles get the most from it, especially when you want the dark side shadow and floral interior to frame the text like nineteenth-century signage.
