Author's note

Linux Libertine Italic by Philipp H. Poll is a free high-contrast italic serif with softly bracketed serifs, a bookish air, a strong rightward lean, and calligraphic movement. Its sweeping curves and tapered strokes make the letters lively.

Literary history and the arts are its clearest territory, making it a convincing voice for book covers, museum publishing, and posters for lectures or classical performances. On wine labels or formal stationery for traditional brands, the long curves and sloping letters can become part of a recognizable engraved-style emblem, echoing pen-drawn flourishes and old printed ornamental borders rather than serving as anonymous text.
