Liturgisch by Dieter Steffmann of Typographer Mediengestaltung is a free medieval blackletter font with the formal weight of manuscript lettering. Its tall, closely set forms combine broad vertical strokes, sharp diamond-shaped joins, and hooked ends, producing a dark and emphatic texture.
Medieval history and ecclesiastical imagery make a convincing setting for the type, particularly in historical publishing, museum exhibitions, and ceremonial event materials. The same pointed construction can lend fantasy games and music posters a severe, old-world edge, especially when the subject draws on illuminated texts, heraldry, or Gothic architecture.
