Mad Somnambulist, created by Joseph M. Pence, is a free cartoon display font with the unruly silhouette of tall cut-paper lettering. Nothing sits quite straight, and sharp notches bite into broad, blunt, uneven strokes.
It can turn a title into a nervous hand-made prop for horror comedy or offbeat animation. The jagged forms also suit theatrical gig posters, Halloween packaging, and game graphics built around oddball creatures. Here, lettering can become a crooked sign or part of the illustrated monster world.

Mad Somnambulist is based on hand-etched playbills from the film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. It includes full kerning in applications that support it, some diacritics, and Roman numeral dingbats for numbers.
