Author's note

Meet the Submarine by Matthew Tyndall is a free handwritten display font with tall, loose letters and an unmistakably homemade shape. Its strokes shift gently in width, and the rounded forms lean and wander rather than following a strict line. The spacing is deliberately uneven.

Posters for neighborhood concerts are a particularly good fit, since the lanky lettering has the informality of a quickly painted venue sign. It also suits children's book covers, independent record sleeves, and casual food packaging that benefits from an approachable handmade voice. Its strongest role is in event graphics, where changing letter heights can echo a row of playful figures.
