Author's note

Merit by Scott Simpson is a free heavy slab serif with blunt, oversized forms and tightly packed lettering. The broad slabs create a dense, almost architectural silhouette. Rounded bowls and abrupt square endings keep the weight from looking mechanically uniform.

As a forceful title treatment, it fits concert posters and sports merchandise, where substantial lettering can echo loud imagery and team graphics. Its sturdy shapes also suit food packaging, pub branding, and magazine covers with an industrial or old-fashioned editorial direction.
