Author's note

Mermaid Funky by John A. Matheson of Monotype is a free distorted display font with a strong psychedelic streak. Letters swell, pinch, and flare into uneven silhouettes edged by recurring points and rolling curves. The warped shapes feel fluid and slightly unruly.

Psychedelic music and surreal underwater themes are its most convincing territory. That fluid construction suits concert posters, album artwork, and game graphics built around waves or strange organic forms. For record labels or alternative beachwear, it can turn a name into a recognizable product mark.
