Merriweather by Eben Sorkin is a free serif font with broad, sturdy forms and pronounced thick-thin contrast. Its capitals have substantial bracketed serifs. More compact lowercase letters introduce softer curves and a lively texture.
Editorial covers are its clearest fit, especially for history, literature, or cultural publishing. The firm silhouettes also suit museum posters and established-brand packaging, but book and magazine typography remains its most convincing setting.
