Author's note

Midstar, by Subectype, is a free brush script font with broad inked strokes, sweeping flourishes, and a lively hand-lettered rhythm. Its rounded forms shift between thick curves and quick tapered strokes, giving the lettering the relaxed confidence of a painted shop sign.

As a free font, Midstar fits cafe branding, product labels, event posters, and album covers where a warm, informal voice is needed. It also works well for short headlines and title cards because its generous swashes create movement without needing extra ornament.
