Author's note

Moneta is a free Gothic display typeface with a medieval carved quality, marked by angular strokes, narrow uprights, and round ornamental centers that give it a hand-cut, historical edge. The forms feel sturdy and irregular rather than polished, which makes the whole face read more like an old inscription than a standard alphabet.

Moneta works well for fantasy book covers, game titles, event posters, pub signage, and logo marks when you want a strong historical reference without heavy decoration. This free font also suits invitations or packaging for themed projects, since its sharp, symbolic shapes carry enough character to frame short words and names clearly.

Description
This font is based on the lettering of early medieval and particularly Saxon hand-stamped coinage. It was specifically developed to assist medieval recreationist moneyers in visuallizing coin inscriptions. Some compromises were made to assist in modern usage.

If used with a word processor such as MS Word, you may need to expand the character spacing by several points.
