Author's note

Monteiro Lobato by Copyleft Daniel Poeira is a free distorted display font with a storybook, turn-of-the-century feel. The letters mix soft bulges, pinched joins, and slightly wandering serifs, so the font feels literary and a little mischievous rather than formally antique.

It fits book jackets, poster titles, cafe branding, festival programs, and editorial cover lines where you want a human, offbeat classicism. As a free font, it also works well for short title cards or drop caps, because those uneven curves and chunky serifs give even a few words a faintly theatrical voice.

--

Monteiro Lobato was a Brazilian writer, intellectual, and politician.

He created a series of books called "O Stio do Pica-Pau Amarelo" that became a Brazilian classic for children.

This font was created based on the original printing of the first edition of those books.
