Montepetrum Font

Montepetrum, designed by Johan Aakerlund, is a free ultra-condensed sans serif with exceptionally tall, fine lettering. Its narrow proportions and spare, lightly modulated strokes produce an elegant silhouette, with rounded curves softening the strict vertical structure.

Fashion editorials are a good fit, where its attenuated shapes can lend mastheads and cover lines a cool, understated edge, and the same qualities suit fragrance packaging and gallery posters. Against architectural photography or linear illustration, the elongated letters can echo columns, contours, and other slender forms rather than acting as neutral text.
