Author's note

Moonlight Shadow Italic by David Kerkhoff is a free calligraphic script with sweeping, ink-loaded strokes and a sharply slanted stance. Oversized loops and long exit strokes send the letters far beyond their main shapes. Fine hairlines meet dense black passages, with scattered flecks adding the look of wet ink.

Expressive contemporary calligraphy gives fashion campaigns, album artwork, event posters, and perfume packaging a suitably dramatic voice. In these settings, the splashes and flourishes can merge with portrait photography or abstract brushwork, turning the lettering into part of the image.
