Author's note

Noir Filled, designed by Thomas Canale in 2012, is a free old-school distorted display font with the broad slab-serif swagger of nineteenth-century poster lettering. Deep white notches and uneven interior cuts interrupt its otherwise solid forms.

In packaging, the broken-fill treatment can turn a label into something resembling a weathered saloon sign or vintage crate mark, with the letters woven into the central artwork. It also suits music posters, festival merchandise, and editorial covers built around Western, carnival, or frontier themes. The font is most convincing in branding that wants familiar antique lettering pushed toward a rougher, stranger decorative voice.
