Author's note

Novgorod Plain is a free medieval Cyrillic display font with the solemn, carved presence of old church and chronicle lettering. The letters pair broad vertical weight with wedge-like serifs and occasional curling inner flourishes, so the font feels both monumental and faintly ornamental rather than merely antique.

It fits work that wants a Slavic historical note: book covers, museum posters, folk festival branding, title cards, and chapter openers all suit this free font. Because the letters carry their drama inside the forms, it works especially well for short headlines, monograms, and initials where that manuscript echo can do the talking.
