Author's note

Old Syl, by Datarctic Information Systems, is a free Canadian syllabics font with a clean, sign-like rhythm. The letters pair rounded monoline curves with sharp wedges and upright strokes, giving the set a spare geometric feel that reads as both archival and distinctly contemporary.

This free font fits cultural posters, language-learning materials, museum panels, book covers, and title cards where the writing itself needs to carry the mood. Because the forms are bold and emblematic rather than busy, it also works well for short headings, section markers, and identity pieces that want the script to feel deliberate and ceremonial.
