Author's note

OldStyle 1 HPLHS, revived by Andrew H. Leman in 2002, is a free old-style display font shaped by the dignified silhouette of late 19th-century book and catalog lettering. Its tall curves, sharp serif points, and slightly formal rhythm give the design a literary cast that feels rooted in printed history rather than generic vintage styling.

That period flavor makes sense on chapter titles, publisher marks, event posters, themed packaging, and menu headers where a historical tone needs more gravity than ornament. The font can also anchor museum graphics or pulp-inspired covers, since its restrained detailing keeps the lettering atmospheric without turning theatrical or fussy.
