Author's note

Orientals by Tim Johnson is a free Japanese crest dingbat font made of bold, symmetrical emblems. Its symbols use floral forms, with petals, leaves, grain heads, and vessel-like shapes arranged in compact silhouettes. Fine interior lines add delicate structure inside the solid outlines.

Tea and incense packaging is its most convincing setting. The emblems also suit cultural event posters, restaurant branding, and craft labels. Their geometry can extend into seals, borders, or repeating patterns that unite lettering and illustration.
