Passero One from Sorkin Type Co is a free comic display font with tall, uneven letters and a lively cut-paper silhouette. Stroke widths shift abruptly, and the corners alternate between blunt cuts and sharp notches. The narrow forms pack together with an intentionally awkward bounce that feels drawn rather than typeset.
Its comic-book manner suits children's publishing and game graphics, where the irregular shapes can turn a title into part of the entertainment. On snack packaging and event posters, the crooked edges echo hand-cut illustrations, collage pieces, and simple cartoon artwork instead of acting as neutral lettering.
Passero is an innovative low contrast sans serif type. Despite having an utterly distinctive voice it remains remarkably legible and versatile. Perhaps this is because of the way Passero gently echos old style text letterforms. Passero will work best from medium text sizes through large display sizes.
