Author's note

PavementKana by Peter Bruhn of FOUNTAIN is a free Japanese-inspired display font built from blunt, angular strokes and deliberately uneven geometric forms that echo cut-paper kana lettering. The letters look hand-cut with quick, decisive slashes and abrupt joins.

Designers addressing Japanese pop culture, streetwear audiences, or experimental music scenes will find its restless construction well suited to large promotional posters, album covers, fashion merchandise, and late-night event graphics. Its blocky silhouettes can become part of a faux storefront sign or an illustrated urban emblem, so the type reads as a physical piece of the setting rather than neutral lettering.
