Penkala, credited to chr.s of FontShop International GmbH, is a free retro display font with hefty, softly modeled letterforms. Broad curves, pinched joins, and small flared serifs give the lettering a playful 1970s silhouette.
Its bulbous shapes echo rounded product illustrations and flowing psychedelic patterns, making it well suited to record sleeves, posters, and fashion graphics. The same mix of soft curves and compact, dark forms also suits confectionery packaging, linking these uses through a cheerful period style.
