Peter Schlemihl Font

Peter Schlemihl is a free medieval Fraktur font by Walter Tiemann, later digitized by Dieter Steffmann, and it carries that early 20th-century bookish blackletter mood rather than a rough revivalist one. The letters mix sharp broken strokes with a few soft, swelling curves, so the texture feels ornate and formal while still keeping a handwritten pull.

It suits period book covers, theater posters, brewery labels, chapter openings, and title cards where a historical tone needs more grace than menace. As a free font, it works especially well for short names and header lines, because those tall, hooked shapes and knotted joins give even a few words a strong old-world presence.
