Author's note

Phat Grunge Bold by BCD/MFA is a free grunge display font with the battered, poster-torn feel of distressed street graphics. The letters are broad and forceful, but their chipped edges, scuffed interiors, and uneven wear keep the font rough and restless instead of blocky or blunt.

That makes it a natural pick for music flyers, skate and streetwear branding, zine covers, horror title cards, and big headline treatments where a clean finish would feel too tame. As a free font, it works best in short, punchy settings and drop-in wordmarks, because the heavy shapes hold together while the erosion gives every line a scraped-up, printed-too-many-times attitude.
