Author's note

Pixel Cowboy by Neale Davidson of Pixel Sagas is a free Western pixel font built from hard-edged blocks and broad, squared letterforms. Its stepped outlines, slab-like feet, and cutout joins give the lettering the rough silhouette of old frontier type translated onto a low-resolution screen.

The mix of cowboy styling and bitmap construction is especially apt for Western games, title cards, and themed event graphics. It also suits merchandise with an arcade or frontier subject. In publishing, the same chunky forms can turn cover lines or section openers into a deliberate link between retro game imagery and nineteenth-century wanted-poster lettering.
