Author's note

Plain Black is a free medieval Gothic font with the dense, ceremonial mood of old blackletter lettering. The letters mix sharp vertical rhythm with a few generous flourishes, especially in the opening forms, so the overall texture feels formal, dark, and a little heraldic rather than merely ornamental.

It fits work that wants a historic voice: beer labels, band logos, event posters, book covers, and chapter openers can all use this free font without losing that stern period character. It also works well for short title cards, monograms, and drop caps, where the sweeping curves and pointed joins give even a few letters real presence.
