Author's note

Plain Black Wide is a free medieval blackletter font from PlainBlack, with the dense, carved look of old Gothic lettering. The letters feel broad and dark on the page, while sharp angular joins and a few generous flourishes - especially in the opening forms - keep it from feeling stiff.

It fits naturally in poster headlines, album covers, tavern menus, event branding, and chapter openers where a free font with historic weight feels right. Use it for title cards, short packaging names, or logo-style wordmarks when you want that mix of monastic severity and ornamental sweep without drifting into something overly delicate.
