Author's note

Pompadour Black, designed by Andy Mangold, is a free old-school display font pushed to an extreme, with every visible character reduced to a dense rounded slab. The broad, nearly square forms have swollen corners and no readable internal detail, turning lettering into an even chain of soft-edged marks.

Fashion labels and music packaging can use that severe repetition as a deliberately cryptic brand device. Posters, event graphics, and merchandise can treat the characters as pattern, redaction, or texture rather than ordinary text.
