Author's note

Portland by Brandon Burkeen of Splitfriction, Inc. is a free brush script with a forceful, hand-painted build. Broad strokes form tall, uneven letters, with abrupt joins and lively changes in width. Ragged edges leave convincing traces of a loaded brush.

Packaging is an especially good medium for its rough confidence, whether used for craft drinks, outdoor goods, or music merchandise. The lettering also fits concert posters and action-sports graphics, where its irregular silhouette connects naturally with gritty photography, screen-printed textures, and fast-moving subjects.
