Author's note

Press Serif Cool by Galdino Otten is a free retro display serif with the compressed force of old tabloid newspaper and printed playbill type. Towering narrow capitals have broad slab endings and abrupt thick-thin changes, set against rounder lowercase forms, uneven widths, and a deliberately crowded cadence.

The vintage press-room character is strongest on concert posters. Album packaging, magazine covers, and club merchandise gain a loud cut-and-paste flavor from the mixed proportions and tightly packed shapes. For independent record labels, the lettering can become the centerpiece of a recognizable product identity, echoing hand-set display type rather than neutral commercial copy.
