ProtoSans33 by Roman Gornitsky is a free pixel font built from broad, uniform strokes and a strict square grid. Its blunt corners, box-shaped interiors, and sharply stepped joins give the lowercase lettering the direct look of an early computer display.
Digital graphics suit its screen-based construction. It is most convincing in game interfaces, where the tiled forms become part of the screen graphics, though electronic music posters and arcade merchandise also fit.
