Author's note

Purcell by David F. Nalle is a free Gothic initial font with a medieval manuscript air. The letters lean on pointed, calligraphic curves and thorn-like finials, with broad strokes that fold into a carved, heraldic silhouette rather than a smooth modern outline.

That makes this free font a natural pick for book covers, chapter openers, fantasy title cards, period-themed posters, and monograms where one letter needs to carry the mood by itself. It feels most at home in short display settings, especially drop caps and initials, because the ornament is built into the letterforms instead of sitting on top as decoration.
