Author's note

Quimbie, designed by Peter Wiegel of CAT, is a free narrow geometric sans serif with tall, softly rounded letterforms. Its extremely light, even strokes form long verticals and smooth arches, giving the lettering an airy, architectural look. Rounded joins soften the otherwise strict construction.

A fashion poster is an especially good setting for these slim silhouettes, and the same restrained drawing suits cosmetics packaging and boutique branding. Their repeated arches can echo product photography or simple line illustrations, while magazine cover lines and cultural event graphics gain a refined Art Deco note.
