Author's note

Ranegund, David F. Nalle's free Merovingian courthand Gothic font, carries a lean early-medieval rhythm with tall, tapering strokes and sharp hooked turns. The letters feel handwritten rather than ceremonial, with narrow forms, pointed joins, and a restless vertical pull that gives the alphabet a monastic, manuscript-born mood.

It sits naturally in book covers, historical posters, fantasy maps, title cards, and chapter openings where a free font with this much period flavor can do a lot with just a few words. Use it for short headlines, initials, or branding that wants an older European voice, because those long, blade-like letters create atmosphere before the text even begins.
