Author's note

SampaMidnight by Matias Romero is a free old-school decorative display font with the swagger of 1970s poster lettering. Its broad, dark forms shift between swollen curves, pinched joins, and very fine hairlines, producing a lively silhouette across the alphabet. Rounded notches and mirrored cutouts make several letters look almost carved or folded, adding ornament without relying on separate flourishes.

Concert posters are its most convincing home. The same theatrical shapes suit record sleeves and bar branding, and in publishing they can turn a music magazine cover line into part of the illustration.

The font name pays tribute to Brazilian songwriter and singer Itamar Assumpção.
